Affordable Housing Projects - Montserrat
The people of Montserrat have suffered tremendously from the destruction caused by volcanic eruptions over the past three years. But the residents of this beautiful island are determined to build new homes to replace the structures that have been destroyed or are still in harm's way. The tenacity, spirit and love for their homeland has convinced the British Government to provide the funding to Montserrat for the construction of new homes, schools, government buildings and medical facilities. The Force 10 Engineered Building System is proud to have been chosen as one of the main suppliers of building products for this program. The British Government's Department of International Development has ordered 100 Force 10 housing units for the Montserrat Immediate Housing Project. Brown & Root Services, the construction managers for the project, chose the Force 10 System over several others because it was the only system-built housing that met all the design criteria for this disaster plagued island. Not only was Force 10 able to satisfy or exceed the detailed hurricane, earthquake, fire, termite and rot resistant specifications, as well as the rapid building schedule, but they were also able to supply the building components at the most competitive price. The former Project Manager for Brown & Root Services on Montserrat, Michael Dodds, was very pleased with the speed of construction and finished quality of the completed Force 10 buildings.

This one bedroom duplex features the Hardie's "Sierra" exterior, which simulates the look of vertical wood panels. This is the least expensive siding option and requires three coats of paint to finish.

This three-bedroom, single family house will provide a comfortable and safe home that is easy to maintain. The insulated wall panels will keep these Force 10 homes much cooler than the conventionally built masonry homes constructed nearby. | ||
